Backyard Deck

The owner expressed her wishes to give her backyard a complete overhaul, removing an old, out-of-place shed, and replacing an odd and deteriorating deck with a long-lasting one. This deck's design came about in order to accomplish 3 main goals. Firstly, the deck was to have two main spaces, one for a hot-tub to enjoy Alaska's winters, and one for a table to enjoy the summers. Secondly, the owner wanted to maximize her yard space, especially to the south for her kids and grandkids to enjoy the grass; the rotated square design allowed for this. And lastly, several sets of stairs to the yard was a must to allow for efficient and convenient access, with a feature stair in the middle doubling as a division between the two spaces.
